The four-day Cooch Behar Trophy Elite Group-A League match between host Baroda and Odisha ended in a high-scoring draw, producing two double centuries, one century and a total of 1105 runs at Alembic Cricket Ground in Vadodara today. However, Baroda gained three points by virtue of taking first innings lead, while Odisha settled with one point.
A gargantuan unbeaten knock of 275 by captain Subhransu Senapati and a century by stumper Saurabh Rawat enabled Odisha declare their first innings at 552 for eight after they elected to bat first. In his 419-ball career-best knock Senapati hit 28 boundaries and five sixes. Rawat provided him fine support with a 293-ball 158, which included 19 fours and one six.
The duo stitched together 322 runs for the marathon fifth-wicket partnership. Odisha, of course, were in dire straits, losing four wickets for 30 runs. But the superb partnership between Senapati and Rawat not only stemmed the rot but also put the team in a commanding position. In reply, Baroda rode on an unbeaten 228 by M Patel to make 553 for seven and take the first innings lead.
